Anatomie case study
About Anatomie
Anatomie is a Miami luxury women's clothing brand, founded in 2005. It makes travel clothes from European fabrics that don't wrinkle, dry fast, and stretch: pants, jackets, dresses, and tops that pack small and look sharp off the plane. It's the official travel clothing brand of Forbes Travel Guide.
The Challenge
Anatomie was already a strong brand with high-value customers. The problem was that they were running the business on orders instead of customers. Success got measured by this month's order count, not by what a customer was worth over time.
The Strategy
Stopped judging success by this month's ad return and started tracking repeat buying and lifetime value (what a customer spends over time)
Implemented acquisition strategy across paid media (Meta-led) and direct mail catalogs
Built lifecycle strategy designed to increase repeat purchases and total customer value
Worked with partners to build custom landing pages focused on high-LTV SKUs
Defined VIP cohorts based on buying patterns to guide targeting and list strategy
Concentrated creative and spend on the top 10% of SKUs that create the best customers
Customer Lifetime Value
Acquisition Model
Stopped optimizing for this month, started optimizing for the customer
Marketing Focus
Concentrated on products that drive highest LTV
What Made The Difference
VIP cohorts as the backbone of scaling
Defined VIP cohorts off actual buying patterns. Those fed the lookalike audiences in Meta and the catalog drop targeting. We stopped targeting broad demographics and started targeting the pattern.
Focus on the top 10% of SKUs
Found the most profitable products counting downstream LTV, not just first-order margin. Then we pulled the rest of the catalog out of paid and email, which made the merchandising and the messaging a lot simpler.
Custom landing pages for LTV drivers
Instead of dropping traffic into a wide catalog, we sent it to pages built around the hero SKUs that produce high-LTV buyers. Fewer choices, faster decisions.
